Add a Camera to the Blink System

This is a how to add a camera to the blink system. You will need to have installed a Sync Module first. See How to Install a Blink Sync Module. Once that’s done, you’re ready to install a camera. I’m using a Blink Mini but the procedure is the same for the other types of cameras. The Blink Mini 2 weatherproof option also sets up in the same way.

I’ve created a video of the whole procedure and below that is a step-by-step guide in words and pictures.

Firstly, open the Blink app on your phone. and press the + icon on the top right of the home section

Press on the camera you wish to install and scan the QR code on the camera.

Then you’ll get the option to add the camera to the system. I have two systems to choose from. Choose yours by pressing, of course, on the desired one.

Now plug the camera in, if you haven’t already, and wait for the light to flash blue. When it does press on ‘discover device’.

The message searching for devices will appear. Then once it has found the camera you’ll be asked to connect to the camera’s wifi. After that you will be prompted to connect to your own wifi network. once connected to your own network

And then it’ll probably want to do a firmware update!

And then finally, you’ll be done. The video at the beginning shows this in real-time and also shows the camera options section and how to rename the camera and what settings do what.

The above picture shows the removal of the base ring exposing the mounting screw holes. The camera is supplied with 2 screws but no rawl plugs – you’ll have to supply your own. I’m really pleased with the cameras and they give a lot better picture than my old Dlink system while being substantially smaller too. Of Course, technology moves on!
